PIC Microcontroller Project Book
This book starts from the very basic concepts of programming PIC microcontrollers using the basic language. The difference with this book to all the others I have read is how John Iovine makes it all so simple. He has detailed intructions of all his projects which are some of the most exciting I have yet seen. He uses microcontrollers to interface with servo motors,DC motors AC appliances & stepper motors to name a few. The strength of Iovines approach is in the Pic programming software which converts your basic program into machine code. This enables you to write short tight programs which, because a basic interpreter is not required, run very fast indeed. The hardware required is clearly stated with each Chapter and is very reasonbly priced. A list of suppliers is also included. In short this is a ‘must-have’ book for anybody starting out experimenting with microcontrollers. It is also very suitable for ‘intermediates’and younger people who have an interest in electronics and want to know more about what microcontrollers will do in a wonderfully readable format. Enjoy!

As e-learning increases in popularity and reach, more people are taking online courses and thus need to understand security issues relevant to this topic. Security in E-Learning discusses typical threats to e-learning projects and introduces how these issues have been and should be addressed. This knowledge is essential to conduct a security risk analysis effectively, because participants need to be aware of common threats, protection mechanisms and effort/cost issues. Based on the security risk analysis, appropriate preventive measures are thoroughly discussed in this book. Security in E-Learning is designed for a professional audience composed of researchers and practitioners in industry and IT professionals. This volume is also suitable for upper undergraduate-level and graduate-level students in computer science.
A companion volume to Really Learn 100 Phrasal Verbs, focusing on 100 phrasal verbs that are commonly used in business. The book teaches the verbs by first presenting each one in authentic contexts and then giving learners opportunities to practise them. The book teaches the verbs by first presenting each one in authentic contexts and then giving learners opportunities to practise them.
The International Workshop on “Embedded Systems — Modeling, Technology, and Applications” is the seventh in a successful series of workshops that were established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Technische Universität Berlin. The goal of those workshops is to bring together researchers from both universities in order to present research results to an international community. Successfully realizing Embedded Systems requires methods and tools from different disciplines. Formal specification techniques not only for the embedded system itself but also for the device and environment that is controlled by the embedded system are used for functional and non-functional properties (e.g. performance, real-time behavior). Formal models allow analyzing and optimizing those properties. Different methods and tools are used to design the required behavior of the system and finally to implement and test the system. Aspects covered in this workshop are, among others,
Adaptive Wireless Transceivers provides the reader with a broad overview of near-instantaneously adaptive transceivers in the context of TDMA, CDMA and OFDM systems. The adaptive transceivers examined employ powerful turbo codecs, turbo equalisers and space-time codecs, equipping the reader with a future-proof technological road map. It demonstrates that adaptive transceivers are capable of mitigating the channel quality fluctuations of the wireless channel as a lower-complexity alternative to space-time coding. By contrast, if the higher complexity of multiple transmitters and multiple receiver-assisted systems is deemed acceptable, the advantages of adaptability erode.
In the fast-moving world of computers, things are always changing. Since the first edition of this strong-selling book appeared two years ago, network security techniques and tools have evolved rapidly to meet new and more sophisticated threats that pop up with alarming regularity. The second edition offers both new and thoroughly updated hacks for Linux, Windows, OpenBSD, and Mac OS X servers that not only enable readers to secure TCP/IP-based services, but helps them implement a good deal of clever host-based security techniques as well.
